What is an Allergy?
An allergy refers to an exaggerated reaction by the immune system in response to bodily contact with certain foreign substances. It gives then that an allergic reactions occur to normally harmless environmental substances also called allergens, pollens, dust mite, molds, dander, and foods. Cat allergies are therefore the exaggerated reaction by the immune system to allergens produced by the cat. The body usually sees these foreign substances, allergens as harmless and no response occurs in non-allergic people. However for allergic people the body recognizes the allergen as a foreign substance and a part of the immune system are turned on and the immune system’s overreaction can cause a lot of misery, discomfort and can potentially be fatal.

The most common allergy symptoms are: sneezing, wheezing, runny nose, itchy eyes, eczema, hives, coughing, and shortness of breath and asthmatic attack.
